8. Children's Privacy and Parental Consent
Users Under 16
We recognize that many aspiring football players are under the age of 16. For users under 16, we require parental or guardian consent before creating an account. Under 16s must either (a) be signed up and managed by a parent or guardian using our parent/guardian managed account flow, or (b) complete the parental email consent verification step during self signup.
Parental Consent Requirements
When a user under 16 registers for an account, we collect:
- The parent or guardian's email address
- Confirmation that the parent or guardian has given permission
- The user's date of birth to verify age
Parental Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Review their child's personal information
- Request deletion of their child's account and data
- Refuse to allow further collection of their child's information
- Contact us at privacy@footballerscv.com regarding their child's account
We may contact parents or guardians to verify consent. If we cannot verify that consent has been given, we reserve the right to suspend or delete the account.
Parent/Guardian Managed Accounts
A parent or guardian may create and operate an account on behalf of their child. Accounts created this way are marked internally as managed by a parent or guardian.
In this flow we collect:
- The parent or guardian's full name and relationship to the child (Parent, Guardian, or Other)
- The parent or guardian's email address and password (used to log in and manage the account)
- The child's full name and date of birth
- The same career, profile and media information we collect for any player CV
The parent or guardian is the account holder and is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided, keeping login credentials secure, all content uploaded (photos, videos, bio, career history), and compliance with our Terms of Service on the child's behalf.
Consent given by the parent or guardian at signup covers creation of the account, processing of the child's personal data for the purposes listed in Section 3, and the promotional use of the child's public CV content described below.
Messages and contact requests from scouts, clubs and coaches are delivered to the parent or guardian's email. The child does not receive a separate login unless the parent or guardian later chooses to add one.
The parent or guardian may at any time update the child's information, set the CV to Unlisted, withdraw promotional consent, or delete the account, either through in app settings or by emailing privacy@footballerscv.com. We may contact the parent or guardian to verify the relationship, and reserve the right to suspend accounts where guardianship cannot reasonably be verified.
Promotional Use of a Child's Profile
Parental or guardian consent given during signup also covers FootballersCV's promotional use of the child's public CV content (photo, name, position, club, videos) in our social media posts, blog articles, success stories, newsletters, and advertising, as described in our Terms of Service. A parent or guardian may withdraw this promotional consent at any time by emailing privacy@footballerscv.com, without needing to delete the account.
